I like to think I’m a fairly organised kind of person. I like to be planned and know what’s going to happen. Not to a ridiculously anal level (I don’t think!) but enough to have a solid structure to work within. It does annoy me therefore when others’ lack of planning impacts on what I’m doing. Like last night, turned up at the Phoenix pretty much on the dot at 8 to do our Exeter Goes Pop! night, only to be told that we couldn’t play ANYthing until at least 9.30. Given that the local group who were playing would likely play for at least a half hour, that ends up with less than an hour for us to play records. Or less than fifteen minutes each. So, to coin a phrase, sod that for a game of soldiers.
I suppose it was very petulant of us, but we just walked out of there, we walked right of there… And we ended up going to Tiggas Bar, talking to the manager there, and hey presto! Exeter Goes Pop! has a new home. Hurrah! Plus there is a dance floor at Tiggas, so double Hurrah! And more opportunity for putting on bands. Triple Hurrah!
If I was Seth, I would probably use this as an opportunity to illustrate something about marketing. But I’m not, so I won’t. But I think it does.
So the July 17th date should be our swansong at the Phoenix, before we move to Tiggas Bar on August 14th, and then every second Thursday in the month thereafter.
