Blimey, what is it with Yorkshire at the moment? Now I admit that Leeds-based Just Handshakes would probably have completely passed me by were it not for the very wonderful San Diego based Bleeding Gold records who have pushed out their lovely ‘London Bound’ as a free download single. With a shimmering, pulsing Pop sound reminiscent of New Order circa ‘Power Corruption and Lies’, this also comes over a bit like I always thought Sundays should sound like from reading Chris Roberts’ magically hyperbolic texts.
A little exploration uncovered a couple of earlier releases, both of which I am delighted to have added to my collection. ‘Falling Over Our Fear’ in particular shows some Stereolab influences coming through which is no bad thing of course. The release of their debut album is eagerly anticipated.
