The luscious Tigercats have a new single out on the Fika label and mine came in the mail last weekend. I should have said something then, but the sun shone on Sunday. If you live in the UK you will understand that I need say no more than that. If you don’t live in the UK then just think yourself lucky. And get the new Tigercats single. A-side is the slinky, skinny-hipped shimmy of ‘Harper Lee’ from the essential ‘Isle Of Dogs’ set whilst the flip is the shifty-eyed shake of ‘Cats Run Free’. “You are the one that I want” indeed.
The art meanwhile comes from the always impressive Bleeding Gold stable. It accompanies a digital compilation that features some of the label’s finest artistes: the charming, disarming Notes and their still awkwardly coalescing offspring Flowers; the psych-spook Pop of Tim Chaplin; l’elctro-pop Francais de ALEXROSSI; the biscuit-tin drums underground country of Former Babies; the razorblade glint and licked rouged lips seduction of SEX DREAMS. All different, all brilliant.
