Today was the last day of the holidays so I celebrated with a nice long bicyle ride out to Exmoor and back. Looking again at this photo I took, I'm a little bemused in that the direction I was going (down into Exford) is not on the sign. Just as well I knew where I was going.
Also, I have been listening to the Go! Team's 'Rolling Blackouts' record a lot. Now I liked the Go! Team well enough way back when they had their first record out and when they toured with la Pipettes but hey, I'll be honest and admit that I would never have thought I would love 'Rolling Blackouts' quite as much as I find myself doing. It would have passed me by entirely had it not been for hearing 'T.O.R.N.A.D.O.' on the radio in the barbers on Saturday morning (and in fact that is by far the weakest track for me). Maybe it's the fact that the sound seems to match the sunshine so well. Maybe it's the fact that I find delicious threads of Stereolab and My Bloody Valentine seeping into the hotch-potch of the mix, and maybe it's that there is a sparkling soft-power-Pop vibe coming off so many of the tunes. Maybe it's the fact that 'Ready To Go Steady' has the awesome Miss Lispector guesting on a tune that could have dropped from an old Linda Scott set (it didn't, did it?) and that I could play it forever and never tire of it. "When it hurts this bad it can never come too soon" indeed.
Ooh, a pre-Worbuoys sign.

There's a lovely red postbox attached to the post on the right of the picture too! I tell you, cycling up there is like rolling back in time :)
