Links. Connections. Sometimes sought out, often magically coincidental. So take Kevin’s recent London Bridge run of songs on The London Nobody Sings, including the mighty Animals That Swim, naturally. Lovely stuff. And then take this, by Rick Senley; an amusing rage on the London Bridge Experience that made me smile. From the Londoners website that I hadn’t known about until I Googled Rick, and there you go... Isn’t the Interweb wonderful? And speaking of links, it kind of all started with an envelope received this very morning from aforementioned Mr Senley which held two rather fine CDs. I Am A Man With A St Tropez Tan and Music For Voyeurs, both of which spookily fitted so neatly into my mix theme for the day, which was being built around, ooh, I don’t know, just some old moody things being unearthed, like Hood, Windsor For The Derby, Füxa, Windy and Carl, Ui, Hash Jar Tempo, Bark Psychosis, July Skies... Plus, I’d been digging up some of those old Scanner tracks with the phone calls and radio broadcasts, and what should crop up on the opener of Music For Voyeurs but a telephone recording. Fabulous. And how can you resist that, on a track called ‘I Can't Believe Why Someone Like You Would Want To Sleep With Someone Like Me’? I heartily recommend you check out both the albums.
