We watched Some Kind Of Wonderful again last night, inspired to do so in part by Tim’s dream. It’s always been my favourite John Hughes movie. There are some great soundtrack moments in there, March Violets, Flesh For Lulu and Billy Idol aside. Like opening to ‘Dr Mabuse’. What a classy thing to do. Then there is The Apartments’ ‘The Shyest Time’ playing at the mall and The Mary Chain’s ‘The Hardest Walk’ spinning in the background when Laura is digging through Keith’s records (note the Easterhouse and Woodentops records in this scene). Or, even better, Stephen ‘Tintin’ Duffy’s brilliant ‘She Loves Me’ when Watts and Keith do the practice kiss. “The first kiss lasts forever” indeed. It’s funny writing about ‘Watts and Keith’ kissing too. The Rolling Stones references of course. Charlie and Richards. Miss Amanda Jones. Now one thing only struck me last night for the first time. In the first part of the film is Hughes playing on the sexuality of Watts? Is he suggesting that she is upset at Keith’s infatuation with Amanda Jones because Watts is perhaps in love with her too? Well, whatever. I love that movie.
Here’s She Loves Me and The Shyest Time for your delight.
Charlie Watts? You could go and ask him, he only lives down the road from you.

How could you forget Furniture's 'Brilliant Mind'! Loved this movie, seems dated now but the music is amazing.
