You should really try to use the phrase 'So yeah...' a lot less. It sounds like you're trying to affect an air of nonchalence more akin to Eddie Izzard grasping for his train of thought. It sounds too contrived in print. Hey - nothing personal. I just know how easy it is to slip into these stylistic grooves after a while.


If you excise all "stylistic grooves" from your writing, you excise all style. Personally speaking, I'd take Alistair and his "So yeah"s over, say, the cocks who write in NME and Q anyday.


Yeah, but I'm not being forced to make that choice am I? Nor am I suggesting that Al drops all his stylistic grooves - just the one that veers towards self parody.
