Day… uh, whichever. I lost count and it doesn’t matter anyway, does it? I think it’s Friday though. My sense of time is a bit screwed because of the holidays and that’s just fine of course.
C got me a nice red ‘PANIC’ key for my keyboard, just like they were all giving each other in Microserfs. I tried to replace the ‘help’ key on my Mac keyboard with it but it doesn’t fit, which is a shame. I shall try it on my PC keyboard, as that seems more appropriate, given that the machine its connected to panics a great deal more than the Mac does. It threw a hissy fit yesterday in fact, right in the middle of a stage of the Finnish rally in Colin McRae 4. ... Okay, there, now it’s attached. I had to use the sticky pad to fix it to the board, above the ‘esc’ key, which is a shame as it would have been nice to actually replace a key with it, but hey ho.
Got several Batman books over the past week, one of which, Frank Miller’s ‘The Dark Knight Strikes Again’ sucks royally. It’s as well I bought that one myself then… should have heeded the reviews on Amazon, although to be hones they are too kind. It’s an awful title with no redeeming features at all. Sigh. Miles better is ‘Hush’ Vol 1, which C got for me and which I read yesterday. Great artwork, neat story, although if I’d bought it myself I’d be thinking it was way too expensive, so thanks C! Also great is the ‘Thrillkiller’ Elseworlds title which has a terrific ‘50s Pulp illustration style, complete with gravity defying female forms. I guess you could hurl all kinds of criticisms its way (as you could at Hush and just any other Batman / superhero comic) about sexism and portrayal of the female form and what have you, but hey… It’s the holidays. I’m tired. And Batgirl kicks butt.
Anyway, can’t sit in front of this screen all day… I need to get some exercise. I haven’t ridden my bike in way too long, it’s really kind of depressing and disgusting. It’s kind of dull and a bit damp out, but what the heck, I should go out and see what the countryside is like for an hour or so, breath some fresh air instead of this stale geek lair stuff. See you later.
