I reiterated in my sleeve-notes that Pop is all about personal moments and memories; Pop songs as vessels into which we place our most valuable emotions. The songs on the London Weekend set are all that and more for me. From scrabble games in Suffolk summers to scribbled letters from Sidmouth and beyond, these were some of the most poignant and loved songs of the times. They are songs that take me back; songs that make me long for chances to do things differently; songs that make me glad we didn’t.
