I had a very strange dream last night about Comet Gain. They were on a news story on the telly; one of those silly incidental pieces they sometimes do when ‘unexpected’ records become hits. In this case is was ‘Don’t Fall In Love If You Want To Die In Peace’ being ‘number five with a bullet’ in the UK singles charts, as the old DJ’s used to say. And speaking of old DJs, the TV interview was being done by Tony Blackburn, on the top of what looked like a posh hotel in Las Vegas. Except it wasn’t anyone from Comet Gain who was being interviewed at all. It looked like the band had just got a couple of sharp young Mod kids to pretend, and they were clearly having a load of fun giving Mr Blackburn the runaround. It was hilarious.
