Oops. I accidentally left The Mountain Goats’ ‘The Recognition Scene’ on repeat play on my school computer this morning. I intended to play it a couple times, but then my class came in, so I just put iTunes on mute and promptly forgot about it. What a dork. However, I took this as a sign that maybe I should use this opportunity to reset all my Last FM data. Which is what I did… And it feels strangely liberating, like when I was younger and I would ceremoniously dump/burn lots of my work. So poems, stories, drawings would be bundled into bags and dumped on the flames… I remember them as being cathartic moments, like being reborn. Casting off the old and standing unencumbered to face the future. So okay, now it’s just a bunch of database information I erased, and I know that in the big scheme of things it doesn’t change anything at all; I haven’t actually lost anything physical. But still… It does feel good. I’d recommend it.
Oh, and no, I didn’t realise until later that I could just have edited my ‘recently listened track’ list. Duh.
