These eagerly anticipated dates coincide with the release of We’re From Barcelona, the band’s infectious grin inducing single (out on 11th September) and their debut album, Let Me Introduce My Friends, out on 25th September on Interpop / Mute.
Described by the NME as “thrillingly uplifting pop”, named after Fawlty Towers’ Manuel (he’s from Barcelona, si?), and formed in Jonkoping, Sweden, I’m From Barcelona are 29 (count em!) friends who were gathered together by Emanuel Lundgren, and, fuelled with the energy that only a sunny summer holiday can bring, created an album of explosively happy pop songs.
First single, We’re From Barcelona, has a chorus it’s impossible not to sing along with and a fantastic video that has already clocked up over 200,000 hits on YouTube and is gathering more and more converts to the “biggest” band in Sweden’s party (see for yourself: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OwwbXHNGsjU&mode=related&search=we%27re%20from%20barcelona and while you’re there, check out the various homages that are springing up)
“They radiate such unbridled joy they make Polyphonic Spree look like austere funeral directors” – Metro
And I heard a little bird saying something about a Lost Idols show with 'special guests' at the How Does It Feel club on the 15th. Funny how the schedule above has nothing listed for that night....
